There are so many worthy causes out there, but then again there are so many affluent folks who can give to them, either affluent in cash, time, or ideas. Together we can build a better world, one action at a time. Make the choice to make a difference!

My name is Byron Glick and this blog is a record of doing my birthdays backwards. It started with my big five oh, but I had so much fun with it that I’m keeping it going. My original write up of the idea follows:

Turning 50
In tough economic times such as our current moment, it’s easy to forget that down for us is still up for the vast majority of the planet. But when big birthdays roll around, they can shake us out of our comfortable ways of thinking and this approaching 50th birthday has done that for me.
So I thought it was time to try something a little different for my birthday. Rather than a big bash or a big trip or some dramatic athletic feat to fly in the face of mortality, I’m doing 50 on-line and backwards. The on-line part is obvious, but the backwards, maybe not so much.

The backwards is that rather than collecting gifts and good wishes, I’m hoping to distribute same. Course one guy turning fifty and writing a check or two probably isn’t going to make much of a difference. Now one old guy turning fifty and getting all his friends, family, acquaintances, colleagues, well-wishers and e-passers-by to write a check or several. Now that might turn out to be something.

So on the occassion of my 50th birthday, I thought I’d enlist the help of my various tribes to pump out some aid to the the parts of the world that haven’t just entered a financial crisis but have spent a life time there.

Wanna play along? There’s more than one way join the e-party. The common theme is to either donate some cash, or some time or some something
