Out of Africa

So obviously this could turn into a full time job! Today’s email update has a raft of links in it but I wanted to highlight a set from Andy B that deals with critical womens’ health issues in Africa. The New York Times recently carried an article on the challenges faced by African women who experiences difficulties during delivery. In the article Duke University’s efforts in this area are mentioned as well as the African Medical and Research Foundation.

Andy was in Tanzania not too long ago and says “I spent 10 days in Tanzania when I climbed Kili a couple of years ago. I went over thinking that the mountain would be the only thing of interest, but found my time “off mountain” to be the real highlight. The Tanzanians I met were–to a person–friendly, interesting, interested, gentle and welcoming.”

Sounds like sisters we’d want to reach out a helping hand to. In addition to the links above, The White Ribbon Alliance, The International Organization for Women and Development, and the Campaign to End Fistula are all channels for your contributions to healing an joy.
